Robins’ toddler unit welcomes children from approximately 18 months – 3 years old. The nursery is split into groups to accommodate the different stages of toddlerhood.
Our bright, open-plan room provides opportunities to relax and play. We have excellent learning resources and encourage children to be creative and to explore through the Birth to Three Matters framework.
We encourage our toddlers to learn through play. The children have the opportunity to engage in lots of activities throughout the day.
Our weekly planning is child-led through the child’s own interests and according to their developmental needs.
Our toddlers enjoy a variety of activities including: role-play, music and movement, sand and water, outdoor play and art and crafts activities.
The arts and crafts area allows for messy play and experimenting with different textures and materials. The children have access to musical instruments, ride-on and push along toys, construction blocks, puzzles, books and role play.
We encourage independence and provide activities that give the children a sense of belonging in their surroundings. Access to the outdoors is available daily with the choice of two exciting outdoor environments equipped with gardening tools, interactive games, bikes, trikes and water play.
Children have plenty of opportunities to be active outdoors. Our outside play areas provide an exciting learning environment and encourage children to use their imaginations. We encourage an interest in nature with herbs, flowering plants, insect hotels and bird tables.
We pride ourselves on good communication with parents and whilst the majority of communication with parents is done verbally, we complete a daily feedback sheet to provide parents with information about how their child has slept and eaten that day, along with any nappy changes and/or toilet training.
Children also have an online learning journal where we capture all that your child is achieving and learning.
More structured communication occurs at our annual parents’ evenings which allow us to get together for an informal chat and gives parents the opportunity to explore the nursery.
